Do something. *Do you keep your word with yourself and others? Be sure you are accountable to someone. That is why it is important to make plans with friends to go places. Tell your best friend what you are going to do to meet future dates and then be accountable to them for doing it. If you don’t know how to be accountable to a friend or family member around your plans and promises to meet people, hire a coach. *Do you believe you will never meet someone wonderful for you? Check your beliefs. If you think you can’t do something, you won’t. Replace your negative thoughts with words of encouragement. If you do it often enough, you will start to believe your new voice. *Do you have a support system in place? You need allies in your corner, cheering you on, urging you out to meet people. Learn to start conversations when you are meeting new people, build friendships, be generous with those you care about, and take good care of yourself at all times. *Do you applaud your own efforts? Often, when we are trying to learn new skills and confidence, if we don’t perform the way we think we should, we are hard on ourselves. Every time you make an effort to go places and reach out to people, no matter how it turns out, give yourself a pat on the back for trying. They make a spectacular display when they are released, either individually or as a mass. And when released, they dont just fly away. No, to the guests delight; they will fly all around, and some may even land on them. Imagine, you have just said your vows and have been pronounced husband and wife. You walk outside and are handed a beautiful decorated box. You open the lid and dozens of butterflies emerge. Your guests all gasp and smile as the butterflies fly around and land on their clothing, corsages, or nearby flowers. What a sight to behold. Guests will be taking pictures of the butterflies that stick around to continue to celebrate your day. Butterflies represent new life and hope. There is an old Indian legend that states if you catch a butterfly and whisper your wish to it, upon releasing the butterfly your wish will be granted. What a beautiful symbolism to begin your new life together by releasing butterflies? Many places no longer will allow brides to throw rice or bird seed. This makes a great alternative to that custom and also has such significance. The Monarch, with its grand orange and black colors, is the most popular butterfly for a release. They are a nice sized butterfly that flies gracefully around. Second in line, is the Painted Lady. This small butterfly with its oranges, whites, and browns look lovely in displays. They are happy to walk around on flowers, showing off their colors. Not all butterflies can be shipped into all states. They are regulated by the USDA. You may either release them individually or as a mass. When releasing individually, the number of butterflies can range from two butterflies, for just the bride and groom to release, or enough butterflies for each and every guest to release. The other release method is a mass release. This is when the butterflies are released from a decorated box, or basket. The number of butterflies for a mass release can range from a couple dozen on up to how spectacular you would like to make it. Generally, the bride and groom do the mass release, but there are no set rules. For your reception, you can decorate with butterflies. The Painted Ladies look lovely in small terrarium centerpieces. You can use a mixture of butterflies in larger displays. A butterfly breeder can help talk over all of the different options you have with butterflies as a display. No, you probably wont be able to color coordinate the butterflies to your wedding colors. But with the display they give with their release, no one will notice they arent your wedding colors. You cant release them inside of buildings. Unfortunately, they would not make it outside, so they would not survive. And if it is raining, your butterflies will not fly. But you can then use them for displays at your reception and release them at a more suitable time. Because butterflies are cold blooded, the temperatures must be at least 60 degrees or higher. Some butterflies require at least 70 degrees or higher for a successful release. Generally for this area, and depending on the temperatures, butterflies can be released starting in May and going thru till September. The butterfly is struggling to survive in our world today. Development is erasing the plants they need to lay eggs and feed on. Chemicals used to kill weeds on the sides of roads, farmers crops, and on those perfect yards are killing many caterpillars and their food source. By Boby Cork One of the most important decisions when fly fishing is choosing the right fly line for your fishing rod is critical for success. Fly rods are rated for a given line - or more routinely two lines. Broadly speaking the line rating is written somewhere on the butt of the rod, usually as two numbers separated by a / mark. E.g. 3/4 or 7/8. These two figures denote the manufacturers suggested fly line rating. The first figure is for a Double Taper line and the second for a Weight Forward line. If you are a beginner, a double taper line is one where the thickest part of the line is in the middle of its length and the line then tapers away equally towards the two ends. A weight forward line has an altogether different profile. As the name suggests most the weight of the line, the thickest part, is concentrated at the front end. Behind this section is a long thin section of equal diameter line known as the running line. The irregularity between these two profiles reflects the way the lines are employed. A double taper line is used when shorter casts are required, often on rivers and streams. In these conditions you are often casting to fish high in the water or rising. Because of the slower taper on a double taper line it is easier to cast more delicately and escape scaring the fish. One other exceptional advantage of the double taper line is that the taper is the same whichever end you use. So if you damage one end of the line you can turn it round and use the other end. Fortunately the manufacturers do not charge extra for this - yet! Weight forward lines are better for fishing the wider rivers and lakes where longer casting may be required. Whereas the weight of the line is concentrated in the front end the rod loads quicker. This makes it easier to build up line speed and momentum which helps to shoot line on the delivery, making for longer casts. This type of line is also better able to cast into or across awkward winds. The main disadvantage of these types of line is that because more of the weight is concentrated in the front end, there is a much steeper taper to the line end. So these lines tend to land more heavily on the water. This makes delicate presentation more difficult. The other disadvantage of weight forward lines are that there is a definite right and a wrong way to put the line on the reel. The thin running line has to go on first so that the heavier forward end comes off the reel first. Get the line the wrong way round and you will find it almost impossible to cast. While it is always best for beginners to persist with the manufacturers recommendation for line rating, modern rods are far more responsive at handling various lines than older rods. Apart from anything else the more seasoned fly fisher develops a feel for when the rod is correctly loaded and can adjust his casting to suit heavier or lighter lines than recommended.
